Lincoln County Jail Overview
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office jail page identifies Lincoln County Jail as the county jail in Hugo. It is operated by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Tom Nestor. The jail is part of the Lincoln County Complex with the sheriff and court functions nearby, and it is the local custody point for people arrested in Lincoln County who are waiting for bond, release, court action, or local sentence completion.
The sheriff describes the jail as a 40-bed facility. Newly admitted inmates are searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and housed separately for up to 24 hours or until clearances are made before they are placed in general population. Jail responsibilities also include security for the Lincoln County Court complex, a staffed metal detector, courtroom security, inmate transport from other Colorado detention facilities for court proceedings, and extraditions.
Local history adds useful context. Sheriff Nestor's official biography says he began working in the old county jail on 7th Street in Hugo and worked there until the current facility opened on 3rd Avenue. That means current Lincoln County Jail records and visitor traffic are tied to the newer 3rd Avenue county complex, not the old 7th Street jail.
Lincoln County Jail Population
The strongest local jail population figures come from the sheriff's official jail page and the 2022 PREA Annual Report. The jail page gives a 40-bed rated capacity. The 2022 PREA report listed a 17.22 average daily population, 270 bookings, 213 males, 57 females, 13.8 average length of stay, and zero PREA reports for the Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2022 reporting year. Those are dated historical figures, not a live count.
| Measure | Figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Rated capacity | 40 beds | Lincoln County Sheriff's jail page |
| Average daily population | 17.22 | 2022 LCSO PREA Annual Report |
| Bookings | 270 | 2022 LCSO PREA Annual Report |
| Average length of stay | 13.8 days | 2022 LCSO PREA Annual Report |
Find Lincoln County Jail Inmates
No official county-hosted Lincoln County Jail roster table, current-inmate profile page, or booking report was found in the sheriff or county government materials. The official jail page links to VINELink for release or move notifications and provides the sheriff's jail, bond, records, phone, visitation, money, and mail channels. That makes the lookup process a fallback chain rather than a simple roster search.
- Start with the Lincoln County Jail when the person was arrested locally and may still be waiting for bond, release, or court.
- Call the official sheriff or jail phone numbers. The sheriff site lists 719-743-2846, while the county directory and PREA report list 719-743-2426.
- Register with VINELink or Colorado VINE for release, transfer, escape, or death notifications.
- Use the LCSO records request form for sheriff-created booking records, incident reports, or booking-photo requests that may be legally released.
- Use Colorado Judicial docket and record request channels for filed charges, court dates, dispositions, and sentence orders.
The jail page screenshot captured for this project shows the official Lincoln County Jail page with intake, visitation, money, mail, and vendor links.
The screenshot reinforces the main point: the sheriff site publishes jail information and notification links, not a full public roster table.
Lincoln County Jail Contact
Use the jail and sheriff contact details for local custody, jail records, bond, visitation, and booking questions. Official sources show a phone-number discrepancy, so both numbers should be treated as source-supported. The county directory also warns that county mail must use the proper P.O. box and that mail sent only to a physical location may be returned.

Lincoln County Jail Visitation
Lincoln County Jail visitation is posted for Saturdays. The sheriff jail page says visitors must be 18 or older or accompanied by an adult, and outside items are not allowed in the jail. Necessary items may be purchased from commissary. No official jail visitor handbook, dress code, visitor-list rule, or separate jail records lobby hours were located in the research, so call before travel.
| Visit Type | Schedule | Rules |
|---|---|---|
| In-person jail visit | Saturday, 08:00 to 17:00 | Adults only unless accompanied by an adult; no outside items in the jail. |
| Video visit | No Lincoln-specific schedule found | Sheriff links Securus Video Connect. Confirm directly with the jail. |
Note: The Lincoln County Jail visit rules are county jail rules. They do not apply to CDOC visits at Limon Correctional Facility.
Lincoln County Jail Mail Money
The sheriff jail page lists several jail-service channels. Phone-account funds use Securus Phone Services. Video and eMessaging links also point to Securus services where available. The jail spending account and care-package links point to Inmate Canteen. For inmate money accounts, personal checks and money orders may be mailed, but they are held seven business days to clear. Cash must be delivered by hand.
| Service | Provider or Rule | Lincoln County Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Phone account | Securus Phone Services | Linked from the sheriff jail page. |
| Commissary or spending | Inmate Canteen | Used for spending account and care package links. |
| Money by mail | Check or money order | Held seven business days before clearing. |
| Cash | Hand delivery | Cash must be delivered by hand. |
| Electronic mail | LIAM Safe | Supports letters, uploaded photos, greeting cards, and pay-as-you-go messaging. |
The sheriff also reserves the right to photocopy the entire mail parcel and provide the copy to the inmate instead of original documents and envelopes. Traditional inmate-address formatting was not published in a detailed handbook during research, so confirm mail instructions before sending anything that cannot be replaced.
Lincoln County Jail Booking
Booking at Lincoln County Jail includes search, fingerprinting, photographing, and temporary separation while clearances are completed. The sheriff page says this separate housing may last up to 24 hours or until appropriate clearances are made. This is an intake and clearance process, not a public classification report. Public pages did not locate housing pod, release-date, or charge-table fields on a Lincoln County roster.
Medical care at the jail is provided through a Southern Health Partners agreement. The sheriff page ties that care to quality improvement, reduced inmate transport costs, mental-health help, drug and alcohol addiction support, withdrawal support, and help continuing assistance after release. PREA procedures are also documented in the 2022 PREA report, which says investigations are stored electronically in the Lincoln County RMS system and that staff and volunteers complete recurrent PREA training.
Lincoln County Jail Bond Records
The Lincoln County Sheriff's bond page says to call the jail for the bond type and person-specific information. It lists cash bond, surety bond, personal recognizance bond, and PR bond with co-signer. It also lists a $10 bonding fee per bond and a $30 booking fee each time an individual is processed into jail. Bond can be paid through the sheriff's AllPaid/GovPayNow link or through the bail.cash Lincoln County channel when applicable.
Bond information is not the same as a court record. Weekend bond hearings are posted by Lincoln County Judicial for Saturdays at 2 p.m., and formal court dates or filed charges must be checked through Colorado Judicial and Lincoln County Combined Courts. The sheriff may handle jail custody and release processing, but the court sets or reviews many bond terms.
Lincoln County Jail vs Prison
Lincoln County Jail should not be confused with Limon Correctional Facility. The jail is for local arrest and jail custody. Limon Correctional Facility is a state prison operated by CDOC for sentenced Colorado offenders. A person sentenced to state prison should be searched through the CDOC Offender Search, not through the sheriff jail phone line alone.
